Anne Pogoda: Finally something about the person behind my art! I have decided to list my online galleries first because recently it has happened in some cases that people thought I had stolen myself… or from myself? Whatever!
I am a 21 years old art addict who lives in Silent Hill, Neverland.
I always liked drawing, writing and film making - so to speak all kinds of art, but I never was that good at making music. ![]()
Since I was 16 I sometimes worked as freelancer and made first experiments with graphics design and such, and in the past I was also very much into traditional art.
I am still somewhat new to digital painting. It all began by fooling around with a mouse and Microsoft Paint some years ago before it became really serious. I have practiced painting for 3 years now since I was convinced that I should get a graphics tablet…
Starting from then, I made some pretty foolish tries to archieve “some kind” of skills. Then, luckily, some people took me by the hand and gave me some pretty good advice on how to understand painting at all till I finally was able to create my own work which was good enough for presentation.
I am self taught in all you can see so far: Mainly character design and theme based fine art paintings. Since 2006 I have also been teaching myself how to bring up characters with a good fashion design and how to make character concept art.
I am currently also learning how to work with Painter, design machinery, illustrate childrens books and last but not least mattepainting. After that steps are done, I will continue with learning 3D.
Currently I have been mainly working on commissions and art related articles for several magazines, along them the 2D Artist Magazine and the Painter Magazine. I am also planning to release an own art magazine for Fabio’s and mine art community Fantasyana, which will be called “Do Not Read” magazine and you will soon know why. Other then that I have planned to get a childrens book illustrated on 2008 and to release a fan project for Silent Hill.
Last but not least I have started to attend Art Akademy on 2007, focused on Graphics Design and Illustration.
Recently I’ve got many interesting messages from people asking me some questions. So I’ve decided that it has become necessary to create a category for FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Can I use your work for my own purpose?
I might grant permission after I have reviewed the website/ group you plan to use my art for. Please make sure that you credit me by mentioning my name and website. If you plan to use my art to show it on a forum, website, weblog etc. … please do not directly link from my page! And please do not remove my signature or watermark.
Please do not take my art from my site without asking me!
Avatars and Desktop backgrounds can be grabbed from this website soon. If you plan to create your own desktop backgrounds featuring my art and want to exhibit them in your own galleries, please don’t forget to credit/ ask me. Feel free to send them over and I will add them in the gift art section.
Remember that you should use my work for non profit purpose only!

Do you accept commissions?
This highly depends. I am pretty busy with art akademy and art magazines right now, so if there is something you want me to do for you it fits best to write me some stuff about your project first.

I saw your art and it looks great. How much would you charge for a piece for my avi?
Usually (this refers to Gaia Online) I don’t like avi art that much but if you have some piece of chocolate for me I might do it. ![]()
(Doing a painting of your Avi generally follows the same guidelines as private commissions - or meanwhile at least 28K of Gaia gold for each painting
)

“Printing order purchase” or: Do you sell prints?
Yes. To view a list of all purchaseable items please go to my shop.
_____________________________________________________________________________
Could you color my drawing and what about collaborations?
I’m always open for collaborations as long as I have some free time. ![]()
But be carefull: I’m very selective and intend to pick the work which I’d like to work on by myself. ![]()
If I have colored something for you I will put it in my galleries with a link to your original lineart; and if we are collaborating on a painting and such we have to decide later who of us will post it in which galleries.

How long does it take you to finish a painting?
That depends on the painting… It can be between 6 and 20 hours and doesn’t really depend on how detailed the work is. Actually I work as long till I am satisfied with it.
Miyavi, for instande took me just 6 hours because I had a pretty good day and wanted to archieve a somewhat sketchy look for it. On the other hand I worked on Plugged for 20 hours (That’s pobably my most time consuming piece.). In all it doesn’t include more than the Miyavi painting… it’s more that I was never satisfied with it and so worked very hard on it to make it “perfect”. ![]()

Which tools are you using to work on your paintings?
I own a Wacom Graphire 4 and besides that I work with Photoshop and recently also with Painter.

Can you teach me painting?
I have been asked this question a lot recently. If I am online and have some time you can always send me your work and ask me for advices. I also started to make tutorials and making ofs of my work for those who keep asking me about my actual working methods. I am always trying my best to help everyone who asks me, but I also want you guys to remember, that tutorials are not just teaching methods, they also can only tell you how to paint something in a certain style. That’s why I try to tell everyone that he should try to understand the subject that he wants to paint by himself.
WHAT’S NEW: On our forums I have now created a “Paint me Over” section. You can submit your art there and I will help you by painting in some adjustements/ suggestions.

Question about your artwork - have you ever submitted art to… ?
I don’t always use the same names on Art Communities. Some of my work may be still recognized under the old nickname “Rei-Lan Chan”. But since I think that this name doesn’t fit me anymore (I’m simply “too old” for such kinda name.) I got a new nickname on most of the communities where I’m posting my work right now. As long as a user supplies links to my galleries and also my email adress/ actual homepage the chance takes 90% that it’s actually me. ![]()

What’s the meaning of your nickname?
Azurelle was taken by me as new nickname in 2005 as I decided that I’d need something more mature that should fit me from now on. Azure stands for a certain kind of blue which simbolizes my favorite kind of color and color palette to work with in general. ![]()
It also stands for my kind of color blindness when it comes to reddish tones which explanes why I dislike to work with such palettes.
My old name “Rei-Lan Chan” simply contained a female women’s name (Japanese). I took it in the beginning of my online period as I as 15 years old and was pretty much influeced by my best friend who was (and still is) pretty anime hyped! ![]()

“We would be more than thrilled to add you to our…” group, forums, website…
In general I do not say no to requests like that but please remember that I don’t have that much time for online activities right now…
_____________________________________________________________________________
Could I link to your site?
Of course you can, just send me your banner and we can do a link exchange . ![]()

Some of your paintings remind me very much of some famous artists that I know, how does that come?
You should only learn from the best to become the best; and besides uncle_xeN’s advices I have made studies on some of the best artists I know. These are Royo, Azhrarn and of course, Enayla.
Some of my work is known to look pretty enaylaesk because I used to learn from all her tutorials!
